Pasadena’s Villa Park Homicide: Treat Violence like a Disease (Part 2)

Yet another shooting occurred at Villa Park in Pasadena on Sunday, February 1st, 2014.  Police responded quickly but failed to apprehend the suspect.  It appears that local authorities need help controlling Pasadena’s gang violence.  So, why are these gangs killing each other over territory?

Gangs claim territory for a number of illegal activities including: drug trafficking, prostitution, identity theft, alien smuggling, mortgage fraud and local businesses extortion.  Local gangs are oftentimes funded and protected by larger organizations.  This intricate web of destruction is difficult to control and requires resources and skills that local authorities may not have.

The following Ted Talk brilliantly describes the intricate network of multinational cartels.  Be the change you want to see in your community by sharing knowledge and informing leaders that something needs to be done to stop this disease from spreading into other Pasadena neighborhoods.
